Vanity car license plates... I am obsessed with them.

Not surprisingly, in Los Angeles, vanity car plates are as common as DD breast implants and Botox.One would expect a plethora of personalized plates in a community whose members are both incredibly vain and supremely creative.Vanity car plates often share an entertaining spirit of play and fun. Often the words form a puzzle to solve - perfect for wordsmiths like me sitting in gridlock. "GR8INBD" "STARGAZR" "1 LYNER"These clever little phrases buzz around town, dart in and out of traffic, zip into the parking spot you had your eye on.In L.A., reading - and deciphering - these vanity plates trumps Sudoku and the New York Times Crossword Puzzle for intellectual stimulation.I saw this one yesterday.I saw this plate near a friend's beach place in Malibu.What's not to love? I love laughs! (Unless it means something entirely different? "I love L.A. f------- s----?")Sometimes we get serious.In most states, it's easy as pie to get your own vanity plate, but you'll have to shell out extra bucks on an annual basis.I don't have a vanity car plate yet, but I do have a chronic case of "plate envy."
