  • No kidding! We now have competitive bubble wrap popping.

Yes, there's video below from WSJ.

  • Of course, we have eating competitions. No longer limited to hot dogs and cherry pies at the summer fair. Competitive eating has gone pro. It is a collegiate sport. Organized gluttony as an entertainment event.

There are rules. There is an "eater's code of ethics."

  • We have "friendly" exercise competitions via fitness devices and APPS FitBit, Jawbone, Withings, Garmin, Misfit, and The Moves App. Track every step you take, count every calorie you burn, and share (taunt) with your online friends. Yeah... Sounds real fun.
  • Singing and dancing competitions remain popular.  Look at the success of American Idol and Dancing With The Stars.

What's next? Competitive scratching? Competitive belching? Competitive napping?Just because we can measure something on an APP and record it on electronic devices, must we?Why not occasionally capture the joy or triumph of a moment merely in our hearts?Let's follow each other on Twitter! I'm @HaBarb
